With a myriad of eye-popping colours and wierd mix of proportions, old-skool Manhattan was presented at the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall '09 show. The look is Jenny Humphrey gone luxe...consisting of oversize sweaters, tons of plaid and baggy corduroy pants. Watch the full runway show below.
The metallic tights gave that almost robotic feel to the entire collection. The smart play of silk and velvet geometric panels to create an unusual silhouette. Almost abstract and with a luxurious palette of fall colours like sensual grey, moss green and velvet purple. Too serious for a BCBG girl but nevertheless, this is indeed a beautiful collection.
That white chiffon gown that was presented at the inaugural ball certainly did put this designer on the fashion map. Except this time, no First Lady. Inspired by a fairy tale book of illustrations by Arthur Rackham. Expect a collection fit for a certain princess....sweeping gowns and pretty dresses. With a posh palette of stark ivory, icy silver and midnight blue. Lastly not forgetting the crown to seal that royal status.
