Finally! H&M in Singapore

It will not be long before Singapore will start seeing long queues for designer collaborations because Swedish clothing company, H&M has decided to open its store in the country; their first store in South East Asia. The store will be located in Orchard Building and will possess a sales area of approximately 3,000 square metres. The store is slated to open during the autumn of 2011.

“We look forward to opening our first store in South East Asia. There is great potential for expansion in this highly populated and fashion conscious region, and Orchard Road in Singapore is the perfect first step for this”, says Karl-Johan Persson, CEO at H&M.

Valentino for Gap

Valentino has collaborated with Gap to produce a collection consisting of seven quintessential pieces. It is a blissful combination between Valentino’s luxury mantra and Gap’s fundamental basics. Any Valentino collection wouldn't be complete without the exaggeration of ruffles and bows. According to Valentino's creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Picciol, they hope to ‘create couture looks with a contemporary attitude.’

Karlie Kloss's Beauty Regime Revealed

From Into The Gloss
My ABSOLUTE favourite model, Karlie Kloss shares her beauty regime.

“I always pick up a bunch of stuff at City-Pharma, a big discount pharmacy in the Saint Germain area of Paris. I was there one time after a show and so was, like, every makeup artist I’ve ever known! I was like, ‘Hey, so, since you’re here…what should I get?’ [laughs] Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir is amazing. And Embryolisse is where it’s at. Labello for lips, is my favorite—so creamy, and Christian Dior’s balm; it smells like roses. I also like Rosewater mist. The Arbonne line is great too; my mother agent Mary [Clarke] got me hooked on it. I use the Nurturing Day Lotion that smells like kiwi, and the Hydrating Cleanser + Freshener, just really good, simple, fresh and light. And Julien d’Ys told me about Pond’s—good old Pond’s Cold Cream; he said it’s the best to get makeup off and he’s right. After a show when I have tons of thick mascara and piled on stuff, I just slap on a big dollop of this—it’s a démaquillant and cream all in one. All the girls in the old days—all the supermodels—this is what they carried around. It’s the old-school cheap trick.

For makeup I love Lancôme’s Définicils mascara. I also can’t live without Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage—I actually use it to do a nude lip; my lips are really dark so I like to take the color down a little bit. It’s truly the best concealer. And the Madina stick is really good—you can only get it in Italy. Literally, Pat McGrath, the way she gets the dewy, glowy skin—the secret, I swear, is in this stick. You just apply as a highlighter on the nose, cheeks, under the eyebrows, and on the Cupid’s Bow on the upper lip—it’s magic. If you ever hear Pat saying backstage, ‘Use the Shiny Stick on the Bow!’ this is what she means. That’s the command. And I always wear Lola by Marc Jacobs; I’ve dropped it a million times but it still smells great and that’s all that matters.

My hair was really temperamental for a while, after being dyed dark and light and red, so I started using Oribe’s products and they’re great—I love the Shampoo For Beautiful Color. And Nexxus Humectress conditioner from the drugstore is really good. Also, Jessica Stam told me about Viviscal supplements. I bought a 3-month supply—you take one in the morning and one at night, and literally the difference in my hair is like night and day. It has some sort of marine complex—some kind of fish oil—whatever it is, it’s amazing.

But I like to stay pretty simple. On a normal day I’ll do my Embryolisse and I’ll do some lip balm and use some mascara and maybe a little blush. And, I have to say, I just got new toothpaste—Crest 3-D White Advanced Vivid—and I swear, it works like magic. I’ve used it for a week and my teeth are blindingly white. And it’s, like, $5. Also I’m doing Invisalign—I just pop them in; I only wear them at night because I can’t talk when they’re in and it’s embarrassing. But I think they’re way better than braces. That’s pretty much the only beauty ‘service’ I get; going to my orthodontist in St. Louis. [laughs]”

Designaré & Dr Georgia Lee's Halloween Party

31 October 2010, Designaré and Dr Georgia Lee threw a halloween extravaganza to commemorate the celtic festival. In her portrayal as Morticia Adams, Dr Georgia Lee donned a gorgeous DSquared2 dress from the fall/winter 2010 collection (yes, the same one Carmen Kass wore during the Audi Fashion Festival, Singapore 2010). I had the opportunity to meet key players - Mr Frank Cintamani, fashion designer Ashley Isham, celebrity stylist Karen Ng - in Singapore's fashion and entertainment industry.

Halloween may be long gone but the memories are still lingering. Thank-you Designaré and Dr Georgia Lee for the invitation, it was such an honour.

Topshop @ Knightsbridge

Exciting news for all Topshop Singapore lovers. The British high-street fashion chain will be opening their 3-level flagship store at Knightsbridge Singapore this coming December!

Topshop/Topman 'We Are 1' Anniversary

Topman/Topshop at Orchard ION, Singapore turned "1" recently and I was invited to their birthday EXTRAVANGANZA!It was a hot and steamy affair as the entire event took place at a cleverly-transformed carpark garage above the mall; the venue had this "ghetto Detroit underground" vibe to it. Guest mingling were treated to Frolick's frozen yogurt and ice cold Pure Blonde beers to quell the sweltering heat. Canapés were served as well.

The british high-street fashion chain then kicked off it's respective Autumn/Winter 2010 runway presentation. It was the longest runway I have ever seen (besides Fashion's Night Out) and it took several turns around corners; thankfully I was seated front row. The main highlight of the entire show for me was when local top model, Sheila Sim strutted down the runway. Both collection was all about layering. The Topman collection had a recurring play on stripes and plaid. Heavy knits, coats and jackets aplenty. The Topshop theme might very well be tapped as "Russian Winterland." Shearling-lined pieces (very burberry-esque), faux fur coats, heavy knits, fringed blouse and black lace leggings (that made several appearances that night).

After the presentation, we were "escorted" by the models to Topshop/Topman ION and as VIPs of the night, we were entitled to a 20% discount off any regular pieces. Ladies (and men) were treated to manicure sessions and I finally managed to check out the Topshop Makeup Collection; pretty affordable and nifty! Sad to say, I was unable to purchase anything due to the sheer madness in the store but do take a look at the A/W 2010 collection, several pieces were amazing. That said, I had an amazing time during the event and once again... Happy Belated Anniversary to Topman & Topshop!
